JOE

Joe - Private ski instructor Verbier

MEET JOE

Joe grew up and learnt to ski on a small hill called Spirit Mountain in northern Minnesota, USA. However, most of his time training as a young athlete was not dedicated to skiing, but rather ice-hockey.

After years of playing and coaching ice-hockey, Joe found an even deeper passion towards skiing (both on and off piste) so he joined a Peak Leaders and has now settled with his family in Switzerland.

When Joe is not trying to become a better skier himself, he enjoys helping others find balance and confidence in the mountains.

Joe lives between Verbier and Geneva (and a little in the US) with his wife, two children and two English Springer spaniels — Ambush & Millie-Mae.

He enjoys golfing, boating, road biking, fly fishing and hiking with his family (and the dogs) during the different seasons of the year.

SOME LOCAL KNOWLEDGE:

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT?

“Carrefour – perfectly positioned at the top of Verbier and on the pistes. So once you’ve enjoyed an amazing meal with stunning views you can either head off skiing again or just get the bus home…”

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SKI AREA?

“I can’t narrow it down – sorry! The the 4 Valleys ski area is so much fun and so big it’s unfair to single out one bit. So my advice is to explore as much of it as you can.”

WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE FOR APRES?

“I love anywhere that has great music and good beer – so Lumi and Pub Mont Fort are definitely favourites.”

WHAT’S YOUR BEST TIP FOR A HOLIDAY IN VERBIER?

“Be patient, relax, and let the mountain guide you. After all it’s a holiday, so remember to take it easy!”
